New Spirit Airlines Dress Code Policy

The new policy references offensive clothing, tattoos and more

Passengers flying Spirit Airlines may need to cover up tattoos or wear more clothing for their next flight, as the airline has updated its contract of carriage to prohibit passengers who are "barefoot or inadequately clothed" or have "lewd, obscene, or offensive" body art. The updated policy specifies that "inadequately clothed" includes see-through clothing, exposed private parts, and more. This move comes after previous incidents where passengers were denied boarding for their fashion choices, such as wearing crop tops. Other airlines have faced similar controversies, with American Airlines apologizing to a passenger in 2019 for being told to cover up her strapless romper. CNN has reached out to Spirit Airlines for further comment.
