Yes, it includes Taylor Swift

A new English course at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts explores the similarities between modern song lyrics, including those of Taylor Swift, and classic poetry. The course, titled "The Tortured Poets Department," aims to make poetry more approachable by comparing it to popular music. Professor Julie Camarda uses songs by artists like Peter Gabriel and Joni Mitchell alongside classic Romantic poets to show students the connections between the two mediums. Students in the course were tasked with creating multimedia presentations of texts and songs they would recommend adding to the syllabus. While the class won't be offered in the spring semester, Camarda hopes to bring it back in the future.
