The deceased individual has been identified as Thomas D. Walsh Jr., 62 of Cohoes, NY.

The ongoing investigation has determined Mr. Walsh had been out on a watercraft and entered the water intentionally to go swimming without a floatation device. After swimming for a period, he showed signs of distress and went under water. Another individual attempted to assist Mr. Walsh but also became distressed and was rescued from the water by a passing Good Samaritan. The second swimmer was evaluated by Emergency Medical Services at the scene but did not require further treatment.

Update 6:00pm: The latest report from CBS 6 says a body has been recovered from the lake.

Update 5:59pm: CBS 6 says police were called to the scene for reports of a drowning around 3pm Thursday.

Update 5:44pm: In a post on X, CBS 6 says police are currently searching a pontoon boat near the Fish Creek Marina

CBS 6 reports a heavy presence of State Troopers on Saratoga Lake near the Route 9P boat launch. The boat launch is currently shut down. A video posted on Facebook shows first responders rushing to the scene and a helicopter hovering above.
