USA Runner Masai Russell Wins Gold

Saturday’s 100-meter hurdles competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics was so close that three competitors had to wait for the judges’ ruling to see which of them had won. In the end, it turned out American Masai Russell had crossed the finish line just 1/100th of a second before France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela for a total time of 12.33 seconds – less than a tenth of a second short of her personal best. Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn – who went into the competition as the reigning Olympic champion – captured bronze with a time of 12.36 seconds. The news of Russell’s victory prompted the U.S. runner to scream and pump her fists as she ran down the track in celebration. Meanwhile, Samba-Mayela broke down in tears while Camacho-Quinn tried to comfort her. So far, what’s been the most exciting event at the 2024 Paris Olympics?
